About the Craftsman's Woodshop
Hello, and welcome to the Craftsman's Woodshop! My name is Joe
Truehart and this is my opus for all people interested in fine
quality handmade furniture to explore. For some time now and to no avail, I have
looked for a quality site that allowed craftsmen, such as myself, to
showcase their skills to the public and allow the masses to take
advantage of the skills found in their own backyard. So I thought, why not create one myself. In order to provide you an overview of our site,
I thought it would be best to answer the most common questions that I get related to the site.
Frequently Asked Questions
Isn't it easier to just browse the web?
While browsing the web it's easy to get caught up in the standard search engine search mode
of having to conduct a number of searches to find exactly the right piece of furniture to suit your needs. At the Craftsman's Woodshop, I
have done all that work for you, saving you valuable time and in the long run, your hard earned money. Moreover, the furniture and art pieces you find here are made by woodworkers that
are dedicated to producing quality pieces that you can be proud to display in your home or business.
Why search when you can have it custom made for your home.
Why not just go to the furniture store?
These are not production pieces that you find in your local
furniture store. There are a
plethora of products that mass production is suited
for. The concept of running out to the store and making a the purchase, bringing it home and setting it up in one day is a result of the
fast paced lifestyle we have all become to accustomed to. However this convenience has come with a price. We pay for this
convenience by
sacrificing the quality, style and final satisfaction of the purchase. What we thought would last a lifetime generally lasts only a
fraction of that.
Why should I buy furniture from the craftsmen on your site?
My wife is always laughing at my tendency to inspect furniture and cabinet construction at the local stores. I always end up shaking my
head in disbelief of the lack of quality and ultimately the price tag for the less than desirable product. Most of the furniture on the
mass market today is held together by staples, plastic parts and made of veneered particle board. I myself purchased a chest of drawers
for my sons bedroom about 3 years ago and now it already is in need of replacement. I will soon be starting that project to build a new
custom piece for him. The point here is that when you spend your hard earned money you want to know that a piece is going last more than
just a few years and that you won't have to replace it prematurely. The furniture represented here is built to last.
Can this help our economy?
Absolutely, by working with woodworkers you find here, you are not only supporting the national economy but more importantly
your local economy. Because you can find a craftsman in your own state your dollars are staying in your state. When you purchase
furniture from a big box furniture store you have no idea where your money is going. The dollars you spend are more than likely
going to a factory overseas while only a small portion remains in the country.
What makes your site better than other online furniture stores?
First of all, I don't consider this an online furniture store. This is setup to be a place where consumers can find
quality furniture producers to build furnishings for their home or office. I have noticed that when conducting a search for, let's
say a bed for example, many sites come up and when you browse through them you see the same bed from site to site. These indicates
that the bed you are seeing is probably mass produced and not of the quality you are expecting. In addition, other sites that are like
this one lack the information that we provide to you to aid your decision making process. There are links directly to the
craftsman's own web page so you can learn more about them.
